There are a lot of things money can buy you in life but I'd argue perhaps the most significant asset it can provide is a safety net.

The thought occurred to me when it was revealed at the Grand National weights that one of the leading fancies Time To Get Up was not in fact qualified to run.

You now need to have run six times over fences to run in the National and the deadline had passed for Time To Get Up to acquire the necessary experience, which Jonjo O'Neill put down to the horse having suffered a minor setback, albeit not one serious enough to prevent him from running at Haydock on Saturday.
