A couple of weeks ago, the Racing Post gave readers a wide-ranging insight into the working environment for racing staff and the reasons for the current severe shortage.

An underlying theme is the need for racing to implement modern methods of staff management so the working environment meets the expectations of a 21st century workforce and underpins staff retention.

Over the last two years the National Trainers Federation (NTF) has developed the Lycetts Team Champion Award to promote these objectives.
