Gordon Elliott was engaging to listen to on a variety of subjects at his pre-Cheltenham Festival press morning last Monday, including when it came to the topic of Davy Russell's comeback from serious injury this season.

Like many of us, the leading trainer revealed he previously questioned whether the 42-year-old would ever return after fracturing his C6 and C7 vertebrae and dislocating his T1 in October 2020.

Elliott described the legendary rider as being "made of steel", believing Russell's decision to return in September has been vindicated by the success he has enjoyed this season.
