Pocket talk is a poisonous disease, a scourge to this great sport of ours, and the pace at which it is travelling through racing's sewers worries me.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, 'pocket talk' is a vile way of venting anger in those hot-headed moments that follow a loser where you frantically find something or, more commonly, someone to blame for your shillings going down the Swanee.

It is not just a modern-day phenomenon. My father tells me it was rife in the 1960s and 70s when he started to go racing, but the big difference these days is that there is a platform for it.
