It’s back – and back with a bang to boot. The six-day cessation of racing gives way to an exciting weekend, with big races rescheduled to ensure that Cheltenham Festival-bound horses will arrive in mint condition.

The countdown will intensify, further propelled by intense relief that the festival looks likely to happen after all. Very soon, and in the absence of any further scares, everything will return to normal.

Yet still some questions remain. Was the equine flu saga a potential time-bomb ticking away in racing’s basement, ready to bring the house down at any time? Or was it a storm in a teacup?
