Godolphin 'will put racing industry and Moulton first' over thorny local issue
Plans for housing in the Newmarket area have been a thorny topic for the racing industry, but there is undoubtedly a need and the issue has arrived at Godolphin's doors after they were asked if land close to Moulton Paddocks Estate could be included in West Suffolk Council's Local Plan.
Sheikh Mohammed's representatives have close ties with Moulton, where many of their staff live. The village is bordered by Charlie Appleby's 1,200-acre site and the Dalham Estate, which covers 4,500 acres at its eastern fringes.
At a public planning meeting in Moulton village hall recently, locals heard a presentation from David Fletcher, of estate agents Strutt & Parker, who was speaking on behalf of Godolphin.
