The date of June 1 has a large red circle around it in any number of racing calendars, but so should July 4.

Providing everything goes to plan British racing can resume when phase two of the government's recovery plan is implemented on the first day of next month.

Phase three will not kick in until July 4 at the earliest, which is when it may be possible for some betting shops to re-open subject to social distancing rules.
