One of the keys for any up-and-coming trainer is to receive the patronage of some high-profile owners – and Newmarket trainer George Boughey has just ticked another important box in that regard by welcoming Highclere Thoroughbreds into his yard for the first time.

And, remarkably, the horse he has been sent to train by the Highclere organisation – a two-year-old filly by Bated Breath, who has already been named Cashew – is one he wanted to buy at the sales last year before being priced out of the bidding.

Boughey, 28, who has been training for only 18 months, began 2020 with just 17 horses but now can boast more than 50 at his Saffron House yard on Newmarket's Hamilton Road.
