The review of Britain's gambling laws has been framed mostly in terms of curbing the excesses of the online gambling sector, whether perceived or real (and all too many have been real).

Football has been dragged into the headlines recently over the issue of online bookmakers being the only place to watch some FA Cup matches. But, generally, this is seen as a problem for the gambling sector, albeit that if the gambling sector sneezes it is all too likely that horseracing will catch a cold.

However, at Regulus Partners we think the review is more fundamental to racing than that on a number of levels – and should be receiving significant focus from racing's key stakeholders (of the constructive rather than grandstanding variety).
