The government may have put the intense concentration on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals in abeyance but that does not mean the heat is being turned down on the gambling industry.

The consultation on FOBTs announced by ministers last month runs until January but it might not be until March or April that there is any clarity on that front.

In the meantime attention has switched to online gambling and there was a great deal for the sector to digest, probably with some discomfort, at this week's Raising Standards conference in Birmingham organised by the Gambling Commission.
