Frost to become more icy? Moore to talk more? What do we want from jockeys?
It was going well, better than anticipated anyway. We were in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Wan Chai harbour and Ryan Moore was not crawling back into his shell the way he was supposed to.
He spoke openly of Aidan O'Brien and the drive he possesses; he explained why Hong Kong is such a hotspot for top jockeys; he went into great detail on Anthony Van Dyck and Magic Wand, the pair poised to contest the Hong Kong Vase and Cup the following day; and he touched on other horses who had been good to him in the months gone by.
I had Moore right where I wanted him – talking. And, now that he was talking, I was not going to let a golden opportunity slip through my grasp. It was time to find out more about him, the stuff we never hear about.
