It was an all-weather Flat meeting taking place at Lingfield last Wednesday, yet even so conversation in the press room was focused on the jumps.

Perhaps surprisingly, the previous weekend's big names of Honeysuckle, Jonbon and Edwardstone were not the first to come up. Instead, discussion revolved around a 16-year-old jockey making waves called Freddie Gingell.

Colin Tizzard's grandson is embarking on his first season as a conditional and had become the talk of the (admittedly quiet) Lingfield press room thanks to a rather impressive display of riding at Fontwell the previous day.
