Forget the ratings, feel the buzz of Constitution Hill's rare sporting moment
How do you feel about Constitution Hill? It is a question that is just as valid as how highly do you rate Nicky Henderson’s star against the best hurdlers you’ve seen?
We are making value judgements all the time and not all of them can be assessed by a ratings system as advanced as racing’s. “Who’s your favourite band?” is the usual question, not “who’s the best band ever?”. There is no objective measure. It’s down to personal choice; how a particular band makes you feel.
Similarly, how will we judge the best goal at the World Cup? I feel Richarlison’s bicycle kick for Brazil against Serbia will be hard to beat, but you might disagree. And, in doing so, you might deploy some of the points that could also be used against Constitution Hill – who did he do it against? Did things fall just right for him?
