Kempton's King George VI Chase is typically considered the standout contest over the festive period, but there are serious grounds this year for Leopardstown's Savills Chase to be regarded as the hottest event on either side of the Irish Sea over Christmas.

The presence of RSA Chase hero Champ among the entries reaffirmed comments from Nicky Henderson that suggested JP McManus's eight-year-old could be heading for Dublin – and what an addition to the Grade 1 he would be.

Minella Indo and Allaho, second and third to Champ in that unforgettable Cheltenham Festival contest last spring, could lock horns with him again after also featuring among the entries.
