Racing in the town switches back to the Rowley Mile next weekend but it certainly went out with a bang on the July course as the last day of racing on the track for 2022 brought victory for one of its own in the historic Town Plate.

Laura Gibson-Brabazon, who landed the spoils on Goldencard, knows her way around the venue as she is the partnership account manager for the Jockey Club at Newmarket.

The 31-year-old keeps herself sharp in the saddle by riding out for Charlie Fellowes and needed every yard of the reduced trip – dropped from 3m6f to 2m1f with part of the course unraceable due to the recent dry spell – to beat Stripe Of Honour by half a length.
