Did Honeysuckle flop in the Hatton's Grace? Let RPRs be your guide
I don't agree with everything trainer Nicky Henderson says, but he was right when he remarked last week: "I can't believe people have written off Honeysuckle. Henry [de Bromhead] did only say the Mares' Hurdle was an option as well."
This, of course, came after Honeysuckle's defeat, at odds of 4-11, in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse this month, after which there was talk of switching her to the Mares' Hurdle at this season's festival. But, put into context, how disappointing was that effort?
She wasn't as disappointing as stablemate A Plus Tard in Haydock's Betfair Chase two weeks earlier, which could perhaps lead one to the conclusion the De Bromhead stable hadn't been firing on all cylinders, nor was the performance a flop to the degree some were stating when you look at Honeysuckle's career based on Racing Post Ratings.
