Tales of skulduggery, fictional or otherwise, have been associated with headquarters even before Sir Mark Prescott was in short trousers, but a new Discover Newmarket tour of the town is helping bring those stories to life.

The Dick Francis Tour was launched this month to give Francis aficionados and others a taste of the backdrops to the books, of which more than half a dozen are set in and around the town.

Assisting with the launch of the new venture was Francis's son Felix, who helped write some of the later novels and has carried on the tradition after his father died in 2010 with 50-plus books to his name.
