Forget the summer of '69, Bryan Adams should try the week and a half of 69 – six ten-race cards and one nine-race affair in my seven days on course since action resumed.

Which is absolutely no kind of complaint. Now or never, they may not have been "the best days of my life" but they were hugely welcome.

Many of us leaving Wetherby on the day the shutdown started in March were resigned to a long break – one official was even talking about running mixed three and four-year-old "Classics" next season to make up for a possible wipeout of the 2020 campaign.
