Crowds flock to Good Friday - but lack of runners sends a shiver down the spine

We've had quite a week of Flat racing but which was the most significant day for the future of racing?

Plenty will say last Wednesday, when Native Trail won the Craven Stakes to remind everyone he is the one to beat in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas. Or Saturday, when Perfect Power threw his hat into the ring. Some will plump for Thursday, when Feilden Stakes winner Eydon emerged as a potential Cazoo Derby contender.

But I would suggest the most significant day for what it showed about the future of our sport was Good Friday, and not (just) because I was at Newcastle for All-Weather Championships finals day.
