When the Gambling Commission published in-depth research into gambling behaviour last week all the attention, inevitably in the current climate, fell upon those with gambling problems and the issue of gaming machines.

However, for British horseracing there was information within the research which should give the sport reasons both for cautious optimism and cause to think.
