Whereto now for Tiger Roll? If the Twitter mob had their way, Gordon Elliott and the O'Leary brothers would have retired him after he disappointed in the cross-country at Cheltenham this month.

Yes, the ten-year-old ran deplorably at the November meeting, but to suggest he should simply be put out to pasture at Gigginstown House Stud and never be asked to race again is ludicrous.

It is worth remembering Elliott was in a similar position with Apple's Jade this time last year after the great mare looked a shadow of her former self on her first few starts of the campaign.
