Necessity has forced us to make giant strides into the future in the last couple of years. Is it now possible to contemplate making a further baby step forward?

Think how racing coped with so many things that would have been thought of as impossible before the pandemic. It is amazing what you can get used to.

Who in 2019 would have thought jockeys would accept riding in masks and doing so at just one meeting a day? Who would have imagined racing could survive without crowds; that justice could be dispensed via video-conferencing inquiries held remotely; and that countless jobs could be done from home, including putting together the Racing Post you are reading?
