A busy news day often provides the opportunity to bury away a negative story or two, but last Sunday it was very much a good news story that got lost amidst the focus on Chantilly.

With the O'Brien clean sweep in the Arc and success for hard-working riders Luke Morris, Freddy Tylicki and Harry Bentley, few would have looked twice at the result of the last race at Uttoxeter, a class 5 handicap hurdle.

The form book will show it was won by Donald McCain's Nafaath at 8-1 partnered by Harry Stock, the margin a diminishing head and how those final few yards must have seemed to last an eternity for the young jockey. He probably isn't a rider many have heard of, but this sixth triumph from just his 34th ride was an achievement of momentous proportions.
