When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and when a clearcut chance arises to win a championship race at the Cheltenham Festival, take it with both hands.

Champ may not have been bought with the ambition of winning a Stayers' Hurdle, being out of a half-sister to triple Gold Cup hero Best Mate, but it seems an absolute no-brainer for him to continue over hurdles this season after his Long Walk success on Saturday.

It already felt like the Stayers' was crying out for a standout player before Buzz's unfortunate injury last week. Now it's easy to make the case for Champ being the one to beat in the three-mile hurdling championship in March.
