Damned if they did and damned if they didn't, the BHA has so far managed to walk the tightrope that equine flu has presented without a major slip.

Given the relatively small number of positive cases that have been found so far, it might look as if the decision to suspend racing for six days was a massive overreaction.

However, despite the relatively relaxed attitude to equine flu that some within the sport seem to have, there have been concerns about the possibility of a potentially disruptive outbreak for some time.
