The months between now and July when Betfred lose their exclusive licence to operate pool betting in Britain look set to be full of fun and games if recent events are any guide.

Some readers may remember that in September it emerged the team behind British racecourses' efforts to create a rival to the Tote had applied to register the trademark British Racing Bet with the Intellectual Property Office.

However, in the last couple of weeks the name Britbet has been mentioned in racing circles as a possible brand name for the operation, with the suggestion that British Racing Bet would be the name of the company.
