I was at Newmarket to watch Saxon Warrior confirm my already high opinion of him and, if reports are to be believed, his owners, trainer and jockey also hold him in high regard.

So, I say to Saxon Warriors connec­tions: “If you really think he’s a champion then campaign him like one. Forget the nonsense talk about the Irish Derby and the Triple Crown and let him show us just how good he really is.”

John Oxx thought Sea The Stars was a champion and he campaigned him accordingly; Guy Harwood thought the same about Dancing Brave and Ian Balding about Mill Reef. Their subsequent actions spoke louder than words. They believed they had a champion in their care and they raced them accordingly.
