Bad things were feared but Good Friday racing has been a roaring success

It would appear the weather gods have, for this year at least, turned against racing on Good Friday but that should not dampen enthusiasm for what can only be seen as a success for British racing.

When it was announced that racing would take place on Good Friday in 2014 there were plenty of dissenting voices from the "won't someone think of the children" brigade, while the organisers of the popular open days at Lambourn and Middleham feared their events would be damaged beyond repair.

Even when the All-Weather Championships Final Day at Lingfield was unveiled there were mutterings that it would be only a matter of time before Good Friday became another humdrum bank holiday from a racing perspective.
