The 48 Hours of Jumping at Auteuil last weekend is not quite the last hurrah of racing in Paris before the long winter break but it can often feel it, with four of the nine jumps Grade 1s up for grabs.

What will stick with me about the 2022 edition is the impact British owners and jockeys had on the destiny of the major prizes. More precisely, those from Yorkshire.

On Saturday, the entire Gordon clan assembled on a presentation podium not necessarily built for such an invasion, after Theleme landed the biggest hurdling prize apart from the Grande Course de Haies.
