Annamarie Phelps is very different to her predecessors as chair of the BHA. And her new role is very different to what she has done before.

Unlike Steve Harman or Paul Roy, Phelps is not a racehorse owner and nor does she come into the job from a commercial background.

The latter point may not be a problem given the advert for the position was very specific in laying down that the chair would "not engage in any commercial activities" without express permission.
