One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

Trainer

It could prove to be yet another successful Saturday for William Haggas as he prepares a team of ten runners across the country.

The Newmarket-based trainer is currently operating at a 28 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight with 12 wins from 43 runners. Six of his Saturday team will be heading to Ascot's Shergar Cup and all of them have a strong chance of success.

Montassib in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (3.55) is a leading contender for the in-form trainer, while over at Haydock Grocer Jack is battling it out for favouritism in the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (3.00).

Jockey

Nicola Currie is out to defend her Silver Saddle title in Saturday's Shergar Cup at Ascot. She could not be coming into the meeting in better form having recorded a treble at Carlisle on Monday and a winner on the opening fixture of the Racing League on Thursday.

The jockey had a starring role in the competition last year, which was won by the Ladies team, and she took home the accolade for top performer after a double on the card.

This year she has four rides and arguably her best chance of the day will be the Milton Harris-trained Super Superjack in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers (2.45). She will ride 16-1 shot Pistoletto in the opener (1.00), Imperial Sands (3.55) in the mile handicap and Spangled Mac, who is going for a five-timer, in the final race (5.05).

Horse

Haydock's card is stacked with plenty of potential and the Owen Burrows-trained Anmaat will bid to continue his impressive form in the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (3.00).

The four-year-old has made eight career starts and is yet to finish outside the top three. Half of those appearances have been victories, with his latest coming over the same 1m2½f distance in the John Smith's Cup Handicap at York last month.

Jim Crowley, who was responsible for two of Anmaat's successful runs, will ride the Shadwell-owned gelding, who after a strong finish at York looks set to strike in Saturday's Group 3 contest.

Race

The Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (4.15) is expected to be a thrilling renewal as six head to post in the Group 1 race at the Curragh.

The unbeaten Bradsell will look to follow up his Coventry success at Royal Ascot and stretch his winning run to three for trainer Archie Watson. The son of Tasleet is 13-8 with most firms and at the top of the market.

Aidan O'Brien is yet to score in this 6f contest since 2017, but Little Big Bear and Blackbeard provide the Ballydoyle trainer with a strong hand in Saturday's clash.
