World awaits Challoner after he bows out with bucketloads of fun

France and Vietnam are among the plans for Harry Challoner after he quit the saddle following two rides at Uttoxeter on Saturday evening, both of whom were pulled up.

Challoner, who rode 77 winners from 1,023 rides across both codes, including a career-best 17 winners in 2015-16, had previously scored five times aboard his last competitive mount, Truckers Highway, but the eight-year-old was not travelling from an early stage and was pulled up four out.

He said: "I enjoyed my last ride, it was a great day and I received a great send off from the other jockeys and Uttoxeter racecourse. I got three buckets of water poured all over me – Robbie Dunne was the main culprit – so that went down a treat!

"Uttoxeter racecourse staff were brilliant as they provided the champagne and made my last day enjoyable."

Challoner, 27, who had announced his intention to quit at Perth last Wednesday after winning on Gold Chain, now looks towards a new career helping his brother and father, as well as travelling to Asia.

"In the near future I'm going back to France with my dad, and I've been training to help my brother in his groundworks business," he said.

"Travelling is also on my agenda as I'm heading to Vietnam in November, and then I'll make some new plans after that!"
