Journey set to strengthen Gosden hand in Yorkshire Oaks

The Limekilns was still open despite 18mm of overnight rain and Gosden made the most of the long gallop, where last year's British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner was in action. The five-year-old was found to be in season when beating only one home in the Pretty Polly in Ireland last month but looks in better fettle now and may join stablemate Enable in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

Khairaat Sir Michael Stoute
Did well to finish third at Goodwood last time from an outside draw and looked his usual devastating self when sailing clear of two smart older sorts under Ted Durcan on the round gallop. The son of Shamardal looks one to be with next time.

Al Hajar Charlie Appleby
William Buick was part of the Moulton Paddocks ground crew to watch the work on the short gallop, where this recent Newmarket runner-up was seen to good effect with Symbolization (Adam Kirby) over six furlongs. On this evidence it was no surprise that the son of Dark Angel was sent off a short-priced favourite on his debut and he has some fancy entries.

El Vip Luca Cumani
Cumani is to open his yard as part of Newmarket Open Weekend next month and this son of Pivotal could be a big attraction if he builds on his recent homework at York this Thursday. Things didn't drop right for the four-year-old at Royal Ascot, but Jamie Spencer was getting a nice tune out of the miler on the long gallop.

Quivery Jeremy Noseda
A day earlier Spencer was seen to similar effect on this unbeaten daughter of Violence, who did well to defy a penalty in a novice race at Newmarket last time. Judging by the way she left two three-year-olds in her wake it will take a good one to deny her the hat-trick in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood next weekend.

It pays to get out early if the round gallop is your choice of venue on the Limekilns as it crosses three other gallops, and the Godolphin Stables team did just that on Friday, when this smart three-year-old impressed. The daughter of Distorted Humor ran below par in a Group 1 in France last time but is back in business.
