Newbury has reassured patrons visiting the course for this week’s two-day Coral Gold Cup meeting they will not have their viewing experience hampered by a large funfair in the centre of the track.

The Christmas-themed carnival features a Ferris wheel, rollercoaster, big top tent, Christmas tree maze and other attractions which partially obscure the view of the course’s back straight.

The attraction, which is described as “the south’s largest Christmas event” on its website, will be in place until January 2, meaning it will be operational not only for this weekend but for Newbury’s two other remaining fixtures this year on December 14 and December 31, which includes the Grade 1 Coral Challow Novices’ Hurdle.
