'It's all systems go' - Perfect Power gets green light for 2,000 Guineas bid
Perfect Power's win in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at the weekend, and his wellbeing after the contest, have convinced his connections to take the plunge and head for next weekend's Qipco 2,000 Guineas with them believing they have "nothing to lose".
Trained by Richard Fahey for Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, 34, a nephew of Sheikh Mohammed and chairman of the Dubai Racing Club, Perfect Power made a winning return to action when defeating Gimcrack Stakes winner Lusail over 7f at Newbury.
The three-year-old had landed the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes as a juvenile, with some concerns expressed that his prowess at two might mean he would emulate his sire Ardad and fail to show the same level of talent in his second year.
However, Philip Robinson, assistant racing manager for Rabbah Bloodstock which is an offshoot of Godolphin, founded to manage the racing and breeding interests of Sheikh Mohammed’s friends and business associates, reported that it was "all systems go" for the 2,000 Guineas with Perfect Power.

"Richard had a long conversation with Sheikh Rashid and the horse has come back from the race jumping and kicking, which is what you want with him," Robinson said.
"It's all systems go for the 2,000 Guineas as things stand and we didn't think we had anything to lose by throwing our hat in the ring."
Fahey also posted a video on Twitter of Perfect Power after exercise on Tuesday, writing: "Perfect Power in great shape after Greenham. Taken his race really well."
Perfect Power, a general 10-1 for the 2,000 Guineas, is one of 24 horses in contention for the first Classic of the season on April 30, alongside the likes of Craven Stakes winner and favourite Native Trail, his stablemate Coroebus and Vertem Futurity Stakes winner Luxembourg.
Dubawi Legend is also still in the running for the contest after pleasing trainer Hugo Palmer and Robinson, who oversees the three-year-old for owner Dr Ali Ridha, in a pre-racing gallop at Newmarket during last week's Craven meeting.
"At this stage it's definitely the plan to run Dubawi Legend in the Guineas too, and he worked very well on the racecourse at Newmarket last week," Robinson said.
"We'll keep our fingers crossed for them over the next couple of weeks, but it's exciting to be going to a Classic with two good chances like they have."
The unbeaten Inspiral, who ended her season with victory in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket, for trainers John and Thady Gosden and owner Cheveley Park Stud, heads the 21 fillies left in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, which takes place on May 1.

She is one of only ten fillies trained in Britain, with seven from Ireland, including Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Tenebrism, and four from France, topped by the Andre Fabre-trained Zellie.
Modern Games and Wexford Native were among 32 horses to be scratched from the 2,000 Guineas, while 30 runners, including Sacred Bridge, Agartha and Jumbly, were removed from the 1,000.
