Trevor Hemmings, whose famous green, yellow and white colours were carried to Grand National glory by Hedgehunter, Ballabriggs and Many Clouds, has died aged 86. Here, the influential owner speaks to Lee Mottershead in an archive interview exclusive to Members' Club subscribers first published in the Racing Post on April 10, 2021.


Trevor Hemmings rings on the stroke of 11am and seems surprised to be instantly recognised. Over an absorbing hour he says a lot, laughs a lot and, for a man who does not give an abundance of interviews, reveals himself to be a tremendous interviewee.

Then, just before the final friendly pleasantries and goodbyes, he comes out with one last statement in his warm Lancashire vernacular.
