Mullins hails iron horse after popular grey is retired

Willie Mullins has described Thousand Stars as an iron horse, while Katie Walsh believes the grey was one of the catalysts for her hugely-successful career.

Thousand Stars was retired by Mullins after picking up a small stress fracture but if ever a horse deserved a happy retirement it is the 12-year-old son of Grey Risk who won 13 of his 80 outings and was placed on 23 other occasions.

He landed the 2010 County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and won back-to-back runnings of the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil in 2011 and 2012 under Ruby Walsh.
