It will be 25 years ago this summer that I hopped on a plane as a naive 15-year-old to take up a job at Kim Bailey’s yard in Lambourn.

From there, I visited countless stables on a casual basis and then worked in a few others full-time, and I still dip in and out of training stables, be it for hobby or professional purposes.

In all that time, and in all those yards, I have never seen anyone sit on a dead horse, or do anything similarly insensitive to a dead horse.
