Limato given green light for York bid after workout

July Cup winner set to be supplemented

Limato will drop to five furlongs for the first time in his career on Friday after connections confirmed the four-year-old would be supplemented for the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Trained by Henry Candy for owner Paul Jacobs, Limato started the season by finishing fourth in the Lockinge Stakes over a mile at Newbury before dropping back to emphatically win the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket last month.

The raw speed shown by Limato at Newmarket brought the Nunthorpe into the equation and a good workout on Friday convinced Candy the right move is to go to York.
