They are the rules, but if you were the connections of the second or third, which I know in this case are the same, then that has to be taken into account. The fouler gets the benefit of the doubt in racing, rather than the fouled. I'm not sure if that's right. The third horse, you could argue, was cost second place but that's the rub of the green. Frankie Dettori had his hands on the blind but it's tucked into the cheekpieces on the horse's bridle. When it does come out, it's all too late for them. The horse can't see the gates opening. That's an absolute shocker. It's one of those nightmare moments and it gave him no chance.
