Monday

The week kicks off with jumps meetings at Warwick and Sedgefield and all-weather action at Wolverhampton, but off the track entries are due for the big weekend meetings, which include the last Cheltenham fixture before the festival. The Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase is the highlight of Cheltenham's card, which also features four other Graded events.

Tuesday

The most valuable action takes place on the all-weather at Newcastle, where top jockey Paul Mulrennan returns from a long injury layoff with two rides. Mulrennan, who suffered a triple fracture of his back in a gallops fall in July, partners Suzi's Connoisseur in the 5f conditions stakes, which acts as a fast-track qualifier for All-Weather Championships, and Royal Prospect in the 5f handicap.

Wednesday

The 2018 Longines World's Best Racehorse and Longines World's Best Horse Race Ceremony takes place at The Landmark Hotel in London and it looks a shootout between Australian darling Winx and crack northern hemisphere champion Cracksman, who were rated 130 on November 4. However, since then the handicappers have met again and reassessed things, so one could come out on top.

Thursday

An important day at Gowran Park, which hosts the Goffs Thyestes Chase, one of the signature handicaps in the Irish calendar. The track also stages the John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle and, if the ground is right, Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Presenting Percy could run in that.

Saturday

Perhaps most of the focus will be on festival trials day at Cheltenham, but Doncaster's Sky Bet Chase is an important race too. Worth £100,000, it is the joint-richest jumps prize in Yorkshire and headlines a cracking card on Town Moor. Prize-money there though is overshadowed by what is on offer at Gulfstream Park in Florida, where the Pegasus World Cup is held. It is worth a cool $9 million, while the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational on the card boasts a pot of $7m.
