The Racecourse Prices Index: how much for food and drink at Tramore?

Racecourse report: entry, food and pint prices from Tramore

Tramore

Date visited: Sunday, July 3, 2022

Was it a big day?

It was Tramore’s Summer Family Fun Day and the weather thankfully held up. Despite the All Ireland hurling semi-final, the final round of the Irish Open, and the British Grand Prix taking place, there was a decent turn out, with plenty of life about the place.

How much was entry on the gate?

Adults €15. Students/OAPs €10. There was an option of a family ticket at a cost of €25, permitting entry for two adults and two children.

Other than restaurants/hospitality, what were the food and beverage options?

If you fancied a sit down meal inside, the Bistro was the place to be, where you could pick up a sandwich for €5 or the chef’s special for €12.50, with the chicken dish of the day on offer for €13.

The Surf and Turf Grill was another venue, but I decided to go for Dooley’s Traditional Fish and Chips situated to the rear of the main stand.

They began their racecourse operations last August and have a perfect little shop on site, with a good queuing system in operation if needed.

While the 'Catch Of The Day' was their speciality at €12, the 'Prime Burger' at a respectable €6 took my fancy, and you could make it a meal for an extra €4.

The drinking action came from the Inside Track Bar, with Guinness, Heineken and cider the draught options and plenty of spirits, wine and champagne also on offer.

What's the damage?

Bottle of water: €2.50
Cheapest pint: €5.50 Heineken/Cider/Guinness
Guinness: €5.50
Champagne: €75
Burger: €6, €10 for a meal.

What was the burger like?

Gorgeous. Beautifully cooked. Ketchup, onions and cheese on the top, lettuce and mayo on the bottom. Full of flavour and very succulent. A potential Group performer among handicappers.

And the queues?

While there was a decent crowd in attendance, queues were few and far between. Plenty of staff were on hand and you were never waiting too long.
