Prince of Wales's Stakes hero State Of Rest surged to the top of the Cartier Horse of the Year standings following his victory at Royal Ascot last week.

The four-year-old took his top-level winning tally to four with a terrific front-running win under Shane Crosse in the 1m2f Group 1, in which he defeated Bay Bridge, top-class Japanese horse Shahryar and Lord North.

He becomes the new leader in the Horse Of The Year category with 88 points, while he also leaped to the summit of the Older Horse rankings ahead of the unbeaten Baaeed, who has gone up to second in both categories with 80 points following his easy Queen Anne Stakes success.

Coroebus rose to the top of the Three-Year-Old Colt category on 80 points after his narrow win in the St James's Palace Stakes, in which he defeated Lusail in a thrilling bunched finish to follow up his 2,000 Guineas success.

In the Sprint division, Nature Strip, Perfect Power and Naval Crown are in a three-way tussle for top honours following their respective success at the royal meeting last week.

Australian star Nature Strip stormed to a remarkable victory in the King's Stand Stakes, while Perfect Power landed the Commonwealth Cup before Naval Crown caused a 33-1 upset in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes to put all three on 32 points.

Gold Cup winner Kyprios is out on his own in the Stayer category following his thrilling success in the meeting's showpiece event, which took him to 56 points and well clear of Stradivarius, who is on 28 points.

This year's awards will be presented at the Dorchester Hotel on November 9, with the results determined by a combination of points earned by horses in Pattern races and the opinions of racing journalists and handicappers, as well as readers of the Racing Post and the Daily Telegraph.
