Pretty Pollyanna, who could finish only fourth when sent off favourite for the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket last weekend, will bid to make amends in the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile back at the Rowley Mile on Friday week.

The Michael Bell-trained filly has raced exclusively at six furlongs, including when a length and three-quarters adrift of Fairyland last Saturday, and is set to step up in trip.

Prior to that reversal, Pretty Pollyanna was on something of a roll in the summer when landing the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket in July and the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville the following month.

Unlike on those two occasions, the Bill and Tim Gredley-owned youngster was unable to dominate and was doing all her best work late on in the Cheveley Park – something that should stand her in good stead in the Fillies' Mile on October 12.

Sent off at 6-4 in the Cheveley Park, Pretty Pollyanna is best-priced 8-1 for her intended return, and Bill Gredley said: "Things didn't pan out for Pretty Pollyanna last Saturday but she at least shaped as if she wants further now, which is what we've always suspected.

"She's come out of that in great shape and the plan is to go back to the Rowley Mile on Friday week."
