One jockey, one trainer, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

One jockey

Seven days removed from a day he will never forget, Adam Kirby is in action on rather more sedate Saturday with a good-looking book of rides at Sandown.

Kirby won the Derby on Adayar last weekend at Epsom and goes in search of more Pattern-level success when he partners First Edition in the Listed Scurry Stakes (2.15) at Sandown.

Perhaps the jockey's best of the day comes in Sandown's very first race aboard the talented Zoffarelli for Ralph Beckett in the Sandown Watch Racing Free Online At Coral Handicap (1.05).

One trainer

Marco Botti has not won a Pattern-level British turf race since 2018 but has a great chance of breaking that run with Atalis Boy in the Listed Scurry Stakes.

The three-year-old impressed when finish runner-up to the impressive Winter Power at York last time and looks to be progressing nicely over the minimum trip.

Botti enlists the services of his fellow countryman Andrea Atzeni for the ride aboard the son of Cable Bay.

One horse

William Haggas relishes the prospect of winning big handicaps at York and in Skyrunner he may well have a horse with the potential to snare one.

The three-year-old runs in the £75,000 Pavers Foundation Catherine Memorial Sprint Handicap (3.40) on the back on the back of two smart successes in novice company already this season.

Haggas won this race in 2012 with Sholan and it would take a brave man to say he was without a chance of landing another this year.

One race

There could be Sky Bet Ebor clues on offer as four go to post for the Listed Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Grand Cup Stakes (3.05) at York.

While the field is small, the quality on offer is good, with Ranch Hand, last year's winner Red Verdon, Roberto Escobarr and Makawee all boasting ratings north of 100.

No winner of this has gone on to win the Ebor in the last decade but a there can be no doubt that a good run here will have connections thinking of a bid for the big handicap in August.
