Newmarket dress rehearsal could be next for Guineas favourite Quadrilateral
Roger Charlton could run the hugely exciting Quadrilateral at Newmarket next month in what could serve as a precursor to her returning for next year's Qipco 1,000 Guineas.
The daughter of Frankel shot to the head of the ante-post market for the fillies' Classic after a nine-length romp at Newbury on Friday.
A visually impressive performance was also backed up by the clock, with Quadrilateral winning in a marginally quicker time than Tabarrak, who took the preceding Listed race for older horses over the same seven-furlong trip.
Watch Quadrilateral win at Newbury
Quadrilateral is a general 10-1 shot for the Guineas, and her next assignment could come on the Rowley Mile on the Friday of the Dubai Future Champions Festival, as trainer Roger Charlton inferred on Saturday.
He said: "She's got a couple of options at Newmarket; either the Fillies' Mile [for which she needs supplementing] or the Oh So Sharp Stakes on the same day."
In the immediate aftermath of her Newbury victory Charlton mentioned the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp as an option, but it is more likely she will head to Newmarket.
Reflecting on the performance, Charlton added: "I hoped she would win. Her work has been very good and she has matured a lot. When she won on her debut she did it on ability – she wasn’t fully fit so we knew there was better to come."
