Additional jumps fixtures will be held at Musselburgh and Exeter, after freezing weather conditions led to the abandonment of numerous cards across Britain over the past fortnight.

Last weekend Musselburgh was forced to cancel the entirety of its two-day Scottish Cheltenham Trials meeting owing to heavy snow, but will now stage a £160,000 six-race card on Sunday February 10.

Corporate manager for the East Lothian cours Emma Bidie confirmed on Monday the Scottish Triumph Hurdle, Edinburgh National and Albert Bartlett Scottish Novices' Hurdle will headline a card also featuring a Pertemps handicap hurdle qualifier.

Exeter, also beset by snow in recent weeks, will host an additional six races, worth £50,000, on Monday February 11, extending their existing meeting on February 10 across two days.

Head of Racing at the BHA Paul Johnson, said: "With weather conditions looking set to improve this week we have taken the opportunity to review whether it would be possible to stage additional jump fixtures in order to fill gaps that have appeared in the race programme due to abandonments"

"It is not always possible to find racecourses that are able to add jump fixtures in at short notice but on this occasion we were pleased to receive applications from Musselburgh and Exeter."

Entries for both meetings will close later today.
