Last week's eyecatchers including a half-sister to Group 1 winner Naval Crown
With our expert race readers watching – and writing a descriptive in-running comment for – every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland, there are three different categories used to denote those who are most appealing with the future in mind.
Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.
On their next start, the horses will be flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday.

Did well in the circumstances
Open Choice
Fourth, Newcastle, Thursday January 12
A half-brother to three winners who cost $65,000 as a yearling and €100,000 at the breeze-ups. Despite taking on three solid-looking rivals, he attracted good support on his debut - opened at 22-1 the previous day - and had he not blown the start completely, he may well have had a say in the finish. As it was, that inexperience cost him, but he travelled nicely through the race and he was staying on at the finish. He should come on plenty for this and he's likely to benefit from going up in trip.

Cavalluccio
Sixth, Chelmsford, Thursday January 12
Did well to get as close as he did after a troubled journey. He may be one to note when facing a stiffer stamina test on this track.

Kentucky Kingdom
Fifth, Lingfield, Friday January 13
Back up in trip and would have been a bit closer with a clearer passage in the home straight. Look out for him when he heads back to Chelmsford, where he's won three times.

Eyecatcher
Summergrounds
Sixth, Doncaster, Tuesday January 10
Wasn't given an unduly hard time on this hurdling debut, which came following an absence and a wind operation. One to keep an eye out for.

Saturnalia
Second, Lingfield, Friday January 13
15,000gns as a yearling and a brother to 7f two-year-old winner Strozzi and a half-brother to German Listed-placed 1m1f winner Sea Of Love. He didn't get away cleanly but finished off in good style to catch the eye. Hopefully he can build upon this.

Latin Verse
Fifth, Lingfield, Friday January 13
A gelded half-brother to a couple of winners. Got the idea late on and came home nicely. He should improve for the experience.

Hierachy
Fourth, Wetherby, Saturday January 14
Runner-up on her debut at Hexham last spring, shaped encouragingly despite appearing slightly raw. She's in good hands with Nick Alexander and is one to keep a close eye on.

Promising
Spring Promise
Second, Lingfield, Saturday January 14
A half-sister to the stable's Group 1 winner Naval Crown who may prove the best of these in the long term. Green throughout, the penny finally began to drop in the straight and she stayed on well under a hands and heels ride in the final furlong. This experience won't be lost on her and she could prove a different proposition next time.
