'It's up there with the Moscow Flyer days' - Jessica Harrington on her hot form

Jessica Harrington says her recent hot streak, highlighted by a hat-trick on the opening day of Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown, has given her the same sort of buzz she experienced during the heady days of Moscow Flyer.

Her Moone stable has been in sensational form in the last fortnight and a closing double at Listowel on Tuesday with Tut Tut and Laelaps made it 20 winners in 13 days at that time.

Reflecting on the hot streak, Harrington said on Wednesday: "It's just been incredible. I can't believe it. It's been some buzz.

"Having three winners on Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown is up there with as good a feeling as I've ever had in racing. It was like the Moscow Flyer days all over again, just amazing.

"It's just been an unbelievable couple of days and I’m delighted for all the staff here as they work so hard. It's a big team effort.

"You always hope to have periods like this but I've learnt in racing that there are more disappointments than good days, so you have to enjoy them when they come along."

Harrington has celebrated 24 winners in September so far, including two over jumps, which is already nine better than July which had been her most successful month of the year with 15 winners.

Asked for the reason behind the upturn in fortunes, Harrington replied: "We actually had been hitting the crossbar over the last few months. We've had a lot of seconds and thirds, and our luck has just changed in the last fortnight.

"I suppose the fact that the ground has stayed good is important but we do have a lot of horses who need soft ground too and we're waiting for the rain to arrive for them.

"The horses are happy and healthy and they look great at the moment. As I said, all the staff work incredibly hard here too, so it's a combination of everything."

The fairytale fortnight

65 runners
20 winners
7 seconds
6 thirds
31 per cent success rate

On the Flat, Harrington still has several choice juveniles to unleash in the coming weeks, and said: "I think we have a few nice two-year-olds still to come out and a lot of horses who would love some cut in the ground, so I'm really looking forward to some rain for them."

In a rare bit of bad news for the stable, Harrington's number one jockey Shane Foley has lost his appeal against a three-day ban for careless riding on Real Appeal in the Clipper Logistics Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown last Saturday week.
