Irish regulator says that the run of Ilikedwayurthinkin will not be reviewed

The performance of Ilikedwayurthinkin, who was an eyecatching fifth at Fairyhouse on Saturday, will not be reviewed according to Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board chief executive Denis Egan, who said he agrees with the decision of the stewards on the day to take no action.

The display of the JP McManus-owned Ilikedwayurthinkin in the 2m handicap hurdle created a storm on Twitter and, although Egan admitted Mark Walsh could have been more aggressive on the Gavin Cromwell-trained 7-2 favourite, who was beaten three lengths in the 16-runner contest, he considers the matter closed.

Egan said: "After the last he hit him one or two times and he stayed on. Maybe he [Walsh] could have been a bit more aggressive but he wouldn't have won anyway.

"The horse is bang there and drags his feet through the third-last. The stewards felt that was the problem in a sense in that he lost his chance there. They were happy enough with the way he was ridden."

He added: "The horse has made a mistake, the commentator made a comment that he made a mistake. The horse was pulled wide into the straight because of the Gigginstown horse [Empire Burleque] and he [Walsh] eased him up on the heavy ground coming to the second-last to get a stride. It was the same with a lot of the others.

"The stewards looked at it and were happy with what they saw."

The Racing Post in-running comment for the four-year-old read: "Chased leaders and raced keenly early, 11th before 4 out, closer in 9th when mistake 3 out, pecked slightly 2 out, pushed along and headway into never threatening 5th before last, ridden briefly run-in and kept on, never troubled leaders."
